Well, time is ticking away furiously and nothing will stop it from wending its merry way to Jan 31 and the wedding day. We have the cake and flowers sorted now and we still need to find the celebrant, MC [although we know who we want] and a photographer. There’s also the hair and makeup which, apparently, is a lot cheaper than both of us thought it would be. At least one thing is…
The car is lovely and shiny and new! The only problem is it still smells a little bit…
The first night we garaged it and the whole house stank of burnt metal - it makes sense of course that it would. Everything is still bedding down and settling itself. The smell isn’t too bad now, it’s done approx. 500KMs, the only issue is now I’m starting to get paranoid about keeping it looking immaculate. I know this won’t last, but at least for now, I’ll try and keep it tidy and clean. I’m out with the scotchguard this weekend to do the seats and boot space - spending $40 is a lot cheaper than spending $600, yes, $600 on getting the dealer to do it!
Not too long now before we get our hands our this:

My god, the time is ticking and the wedding draws ever closer. Am I panicked?
A little, yes…
So after a rather hectic few weeks the decision has been made and we’ve signed the dotted line for a shiny new car. For both of us, it’s a new experience to have a completely, never been touched, brand spanking new car.
We don’t know when we actually pick it up, I believe we’ll hear about it early next week…
Well, the problem has been fixed. I exchanged a number of emails from Lacie who imformed me that the drive would only be repaired if I had proof of purchase. As the drive was a gift and the original purchaser is now overseas, I didn’t have this. They also informed me that whilst repairing the drive, they will erase anything that the drive contains.
So I removed the drive itself from the Lacie enclosure (it’s a PATA Western Digital 200GB) and plugged it into another box (directly onto Motherboard) and hey presto, the drive works. So I popped out, bought another enclosure and now have a fully working drive.
I’m amazed at the number of posts I’ve seen regarding faulty external hard drives and wonder if the fault lies in the enclosure or the drives for most of them…
Still, I have my games back
Of course, my games had to be on the drive that doesn’t work…
triffic - Solitaire and Minesweeper only keep one occupied for so long (and I suck at chess)…Mahjong it is then
So I finally plucked up the courage to insert a USB device last night. Granted, it was only my portable card reader (which I use when placing items on my SD card for the IPAQ), but still, it worked.
Well, I say it worked, I intended to copy all four Rick Cook Wizards Bane novels (a must read), I extracted from from my RAR file straight onto the SD Card, chose to ‘Safely Remove Hardware’, got into bed, plopped the card in the IPAQ and hey presto! No books…
Ho hum, I’m wanting to identify the problem as an Id10T (eye, dee, ten ,tee) problem rather than USB - I know, I’m desperate to erase any memory of the USB drama…
Vista has been reinstalled [with a little drama], everything appears to have core functionality and tonight is the night I check out my USB devices. I know I could have done it last night, but wedding plans got in the way and it took 4 hours to install the damn thing [there may have been a bijou nap in the middle].
