Catching up…

June 25th, 2008

You know, the one thing I find myself very bad at is catching up with friends [and apparently writing blog entries]! I no longer live in my country of birth and therefore, have friends overseas. You would think in this electronic age that communication would be easy. Unfortunately for me, that doesn’t appear to be the case…

An email, a simple phone call, an SMS; all these things elude me and I find myself in the horrible situation whereby far too much time has elapsed since last contact and then I feel bad which makes me procrastinate.

I think most of my friends are used to my approach in this area, they could find themselves bombarded one month and abandoned the next - still , surely being friends, they know me by now and don’t take offense.

Crikey…

Time flies huh?

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted…I’ll have to make more of an effort.

VS2008 Release date…

November 4th, 2007

When is a release date not a release date?

When it’s a launch date. Apparently, VS2008 will still be released November 2007 (although only in Beta 2 at present?) - The launch will happen February 2008 to coincide with SQL Server 2008 / Windows Server 2008.

Surely that’s cheating and just building in some lag time?

Also good to see the MS Team have kept the website up to date : http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-au/vstudio/default.aspx

Time flies…

Wow,

Haven’t been around for a while due to lots of things, work has been hectic, wedding plans are coming together and the Formula 1 2007 Season is about to close with a cliffhanger of a finale! We still have a few things to do, but basically the wedding is virtually planned. The invites should be completed this weekend and then dispatched early next week hopefully.

We don’t have too many guests to invite, plus, we think a few may not be able to make it to our big day. The one thing we have slowly learnt is that you simply can’t please other people when it comes to your own wedding. We have definately been guilty of thinking of other people first when we should have been worried about making our day the best for us. We have the people we want there being invited and ultimately, that’s all we need. The food / drink / music doesn’t *really* matter - although I will go through the music list with a fine tooth comb!

Back to planning it is then…

Wedding Plans

September 14th, 2007

Well, time is ticking away furiously and nothing will stop it from wending its merry way to Jan 31 and the wedding day. We have the cake and flowers sorted now and we still need to find the celebrant, MC [although we know who we want] and a photographer. There’s also the hair and makeup which, apparently, is a lot cheaper than both of us thought it would be. At least one thing is…

Vroom, vroom…

The car is lovely and shiny and new! The only problem is it still smells a little bit…

The first night we garaged it and the whole house stank of burnt metal - it makes sense of course that it would. Everything is still bedding down and settling itself. The smell isn’t too bad now, it’s done approx. 500KMs, the only issue is now I’m starting to get paranoid about keeping it looking immaculate. I know this won’t last, but at least for now, I’ll try and keep it tidy and clean. I’m out with the scotchguard this weekend to do the seats and boot space - spending $40 is a lot cheaper than spending $600, yes, $600 on getting the dealer to do it!

50 points for anyone that can tell me who coined the phrase “What can go wrong, will go wrong“. Today was the day that happened and boy, it was painful…

Traumatised…

Wow…

I just had the worst 3.5 hours - our ISP had a hardware failure on a switch somewhere and consequently, our internet access died. I was lost, I watched Friends Bloopers, I watched Love Cats, Just Can’t Get Enough…

We’re all okay here now though, the internet is back and we can safely surf away [I mean in a work context of course]
